Delhi Excise Policy: BJP Alleges CAG Report 'Exposes' Kejriwal; AAP Asks 'Where Is It'
The Comptroller and Auditor General in one of its report has allegedly exposed that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government's now scrapped excise policy projected a loss of Rs 2,026 crore. As per Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, the agency also revealed that the AAP government ignored the violations made by experts and is now not tabling the report in the assembly to 'hide its misdeeds'.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur told a press conference the CAG report has arrived at 10 major findings about the policy, which was scrapped by the AAP government amid a row, asserting that former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer the questions it has raised.

UP: Dozens Feared Trapped After Under-Construction Building Collapses In Kannauj; 6 Persons Rescued
An under-construction building at Kannauj railway station here collapsed on Saturday afternoon, trapping around two dozen workers under the rubble. According to police sources, six workers have been rescued and rushed to the hospital.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at the site where frantic efforts are underway to rescue the workers.

Delhi Polls: AIMIM Fields 2020 Riots Accused Tahir Hussain; BSP, JD(U) Push For Influence In Dalit, Purvanchali Voters
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)'s nominee Tahir Hussain, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor who is lodged in jail for his alleged involvement in the 2020 northeast Delhi riots, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking interim bail to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM has fielded him from the Mustafabad constituency. He has petitioned for bail from January 14 to February 9. The matter is listed for hearing on January 13.
Hussain is charged in multiple cases that also include the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma during the communal violence in February in 2020 in northeast Delhi. The Delhi High Court recently issued a notice on Hussain’s regular bail petition in the murder case, with further arguments scheduled for January 15.

Kerala: Teen Alleges Sexual Abuse By Over 60 People; 6 Arrested
Kerala Police arrested six people after an 18-year-old Dalit girl in Pathanamthitta district alleged that around 62 people had sexually abused her over the last five years.
According to Pathanamthitta Superintendent of Police V G Vinod Kumar, the cases have been registered in two police stations. "In one case we arrested five people and a lone accused in another case. More cases will be registered after verifying details. A deputy superintendent of police is heading the probe," he stated, as per the reports.

Trudeau posted on the microblogging platform X, "I spoke with Gavin Newsom last night. We both know that Canada and the United States are more than just neighbours. We’re friends—especially when times get tough."
"California's always had our back when we battle wildfires up north. Now, Canada's got yours," he added.
The exchange came amid the ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Trudeau after the incoming US President suggested using "economic force" to bring Canada into US, a statement that was met with sharp condemnation from Trudeau.

Champions Trophy 2025: India's Squad Announcement Likely To Be Delayed, BCCI To Request For Extension - Report
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may delay the announcement of the one-day international squad for the three-match series against England as well as the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy. (More Cricket News)
It was expected that the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar would announce the provisional squad for the global tournament, set to be held in Pakistan and UAE by January 12, according to the guidelines of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
